Legal Advocacy
Jamie attended the University of South Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science before continuing at the University of South Carolina School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2007. While in law school, Jamie joined Koon & Cook, P.A. as a law clerk. His work ethic, creativity, and ability to think beyond conventional solutions quickly distinguished him, and after graduation he was hired as an associate attorney.
Early in his career, Jamie worked in the firm’s Winnsboro office, where he played a key role in expanding the firm’s civil litigation practice throughout Fairfield County and the surrounding communities. At the same time, he served as the sole DUI prosecutor for South Carolina’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, covering Fairfield, Chester, and Lancaster Counties. That experience sharpened his courtroom skills and provided invaluable trial experience while giving him a unique understanding of the criminal justice system that continues to benefit clients facing criminal and traffic-related charges.
Throughout his career, Jamie has represented clients across South Carolina in complex litigation involving automobile accidents, commercial trucking collisions, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, and catastrophic personal injury. He has successfully handled cases in courtrooms throughout the state and has demonstrated a willingness to take on difficult, high-stakes cases that other attorneys may decline.
Drawing on his family’s background in the automotive industry, Jamie works with businesses and professionals in the towing and recovery industry. He has represented the families of tow truck operators who were seriously injured or killed while serving motorists on South Carolina’s roadways and regularly assists towing companies in pursuing claims involving destroyed equipment, business interruption, and lost revenue. His involvement with the Towing and Recovery Association of South Carolina reflects his commitment to advocating for one of the most dangerous and often overlooked professions in the transportation industry.
Beyond his work in the courtroom, Jamie has helped lead the firm’s continued growth by embracing modern technology and more efficient ways to serve clients. He believes that exceptional legal representation should be paired with exceptional client service, and he is committed to ensuring clients remain informed, supported, and confident throughout every stage of their case. His vision for Koon Cook & Walters is to honor the firm’s longstanding reputation while continually evolving to better serve clients across South Carolina.
Jamie believes that practicing law is ultimately about people—not files or case numbers. He understands that clients often come to him during one of the most difficult periods of their lives, and he takes pride in providing honest advice, responsive communication, and unwavering advocacy. His goal is not only to obtain outstanding legal results but also to earn each client’s trust through compassion, accessibility, and hard work.
Away from the office, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife, Rachael, and their daughters, Harper and Sawyer, at their home in Ridgeway, South Carolina. He is a member of Shandon Baptist Church and is active in his community. An avid outdoorsman, Jamie enjoys offshore fishing, hunting, and introducing others to the outdoors. He also serves as the head coach of the Ben Lippen School Sporting Clays Team, where he enjoys mentoring middle and high school students while teaching the values of discipline, responsibility, and sportsmanship.
